Our Aim:
To deliver professional touring community theatre and participatory work in primarily non-theatre spaces for the greatest possible range of people.
Forest Forge specialises in taking theatre into the community. The sets, costumes and lights are designed to fit into the smallest or largest venues and create a real sense of theatre. The productions are a mixture of devised shows and existing scripts.
Forest Forge Theatre Company was founded in 1981 with a grant from Manpower Services. Originally based at Forest Arts Centre, the Company moved to several temporary locations over the following 15 years. In May 1996 the Company successfully applied to the National Lottery through the Arts Council of England and was awarded a grant enabling a new operational base to be built. The Company moved into the new permanent premises in March 1997.
We are core funded by Arts Council England South East, Hampshire County Council and New Forest District Council. Our main touring region covers Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, but the company also tours nationally when funding permits.
